LEAD THE WAY FOUNDATION HIGHLIGHTS

Chad Greenway Hosts Annual TendHER Heart Luncheon

For Chad Greenway, Sundays were a familiar sight as he finished his career playing in U.S. Bank Stadium. But this Sunday, Chad was at U.S. Bank Stadium for a different reason.

Chad and his Lead the Way Foundation hosted the eighth annual TendHER Heart Luncheon - a community outreach program that is held each year to honor mothers of chronically and critically ill children for the sacrifices they make in caring for their ill child - at U.S. Bank Stadium for the first time. During the first half of the program, over 250 deserving mothers were pampered by getting their nails by Nail Taxi, received back massages by Impact Massage & Bodywork and had their makeup done by Luminous Beauty all while sipping mimosas.

Guests got treated to exciting features of U.S. Bank Stadium – a tour of the Minnesota Vikings home locker room, access to the Vikings player’s tunnel and going on the field.

But one of the most compelling components of the TendHER Heart Luncheon is when the mothers have the opportunity to share their stories and what is happening in their lives. All of these mothers go through similar situations when caring for ill children but it is words of encouragement, the courageous hope, and inspiration that is shared for these mothers to create a special bond. Between tears and smiles, the mothers gained lifelong friends and strengthened their support system.

Over the past eight years, attendees of the TendHER Heart Luncheon have developed a support system that exists year round. Chad Greenway’s Lead the Way Foundation set up a Facebook page that provides a platform for mothers to ask questions, share news and give each other a shoulder to lean on.

Before rounding out the program, Chad shared his appreciation for supporters, sponsors and Executive Members of the Lead the Way Foundation. It is these individuals who champion the mission of the foundation that ultimately allows the foundation to host special and memorable programs, like the TendHER Heart Luncheon, each year to continue the impact Chad creates in Minnesota.
